  Were your English WT publications in the American "dialect"?

  the opening query is presented, loosely, in the past tense, assuming that you are not currently a reader of watchtower publications.. not that i'm already rather certain of your reply, it's just that i would like to know if in your english-speaking country (or esl [english as second language]) the society deigned to tailor the publications to your spellings, expressions, idiomatic renderings, etc.

  as you will read below, so-called american english is a dialect of english.. i found this online under american english vs. british english:.

  thats somthing i see thats asked in my kingdom hall if you want to go get more than 2 years in collage.thing in some one asking that to me or etc i cant say any thing or that would show that i dont believe.. i hate when some one askes me that when i try to plan ahead when it comes to what job i want.what job would help me hold my own but no god will give if you put him first.i dont believe in god even when i did i never buyed into that.. it seems you cant get away from the question im only 13 and i get that question theres no getting away from it..

  i left school aged 15 because the end was coming.

  i went pioneering till my late teens because the end was even nearer.

  i got married at 20 because the end was so close ( no double entendre meant ! )

  i'm 70 next birthday. the end is even closer now -ive been told.

  i couldnt give a toss.

  correct me if i'm wrong--.

  when a new-build or existing property is acquired for use as a kingdom hall----is it still the custom to have a sort of "dedication to jehovah" type of service ?.

  if it is--what happens when the property is sold ?

  when i first started attending meetings with my newly dipped mum....in my pre-teens----i thought all the men were american. all wore shiney suits and chewed chewing gum all the time. a bit hawaii 5 oh.

  hi simon, just wondering if in any future iteration of the site it could have a notifications spot, that tells you of any new comments in threads you've started and/or posted in kind of like facebook has, instead of having to go back and check each one manually which can cause you to miss replies.

  was talking with a family member today and they said that there is something special going on at the kh this weekend.

  any idea what it is?

  they said that some kind of broadcast from bethel for everyone..

  When is the last time you saw an educated middle class family become Jehovah's Witnesses?

  we know from casual observation that if anybody does respond to their preaching/recruiting work it is usually someone that is a social misfit in some way or a person that was indoctrinated early in life.. think about all the nicer neighborhoods witnesses preach in.

  if a family of four with a father that is an engineer and a mother who is a medical professional ever walked into a kingdom hall for the first time and said they were studying, people would faint.

  lol.... this of course isn't what you would expect from a religion backed by the ultimate intelligent creator.

  come to think of it--i did know a wealthy JW family in Portsmouth UK--back in the 80's. they owned a double glazing company with showrooms dotted around. drove Rolls Royces. went bust.

  the congregation i grew up in--early 60's....there were a few " upper class" types---in other words--earning good money--car owners. the rest were definitely riff raff. and my god---the jealousy---you could cut it with a knife.

  my old mum started studies with several trash families. scroungers...moaners...i could see through them--mother couldnt. they sponged off her constantly.
